The Adventure…..Part 2!!!
Our Christmas home visit turned into three months!! HMMMMMMMMMMM!! Pluses and minuses as with everything….but we are so glad to be back on the boat again! Certainly there were times when it hardly seemed possible that we would ever get back…but we did!!!
We came by fast ferry from Weymouth to St Malo - it felt like a mini cruise as it called at Guernsey and Jersey on the way. How funny to cover if 5 hours what takes us about 5 days!!! It was so interesting to see familiar and much loved places from a different view point.
On arriving in France we pointed the car south and just kept on driving. We stopped overnight in a small hotel in Nantes, then kept onwards and southwards. The roads were so good that the miles dropped off very quickly.
The journey seemed to take us through a time warp - the seasons changed as we travelled!! It got warmer and warmer; the trees got greener and greener; the blossom and flowers got better and better; until we arrived back in Castelsarrasin to what seemed to be a summers day!! Lilac in full bloom. Local strawberries for sale on the road side. Horse Chestnut trees with full ’candles’. All the trees in full leaf. And, the thermometer in town showing 27degrees!!!
Havorn has wintered well - grubby, but nothing that a good scrub won’t put right. No plans to move on just yet. There’s lots of boatie folk around now, good fishing, and, with the car now, a chance to explore the area before we leave.
So, watch this space!!
