August

What a strange month this has turned out to be!!

It got hotter and hotter in July, the August and the wind just blew and blew...in fact it is still blowing!!!

Frankie arrived on the 7th to stay with us all month - we still had great plans for Cosica...but we have just had endless gales! We did not know it could be so windy for so long. We get a break for maybe a day or two then it starts again!! Always warm and sunny so we really can't complain too much, but it has stopped us from doing all we had planned.

We have been along the coast as far as the Poquerolles islands nera to Hyeres. This means that we have covered most of the Med coast of France between Spain and almost St tropez.

We have spent delightful days swimming, snorkelling, reading, sunning.....but not much sailing!!!

We really enjoyed La Ciotat with it's daily and nightly markets; Toulon with a wonderful cable car trip to the top of a mountain which sits right behind the ciity; Giens with low lying lakes and salt pans where we could watch the Flamingos;Cassis; and most of all the Callanques!!!

These callanques hqve to be seen to be believed - it really is an amazing area. Very high cliffs and mountains; crystal clear sea. We have wandered around and Paul even got hhis rock boots on for a spot of climbing. WE probably enjoyed them more on our return trip because it was not so hot and we could explre much more.

We are now in Marseille again - Frankie leaves from here on 4th SEptember and we shall head back to the canal. We plan to enter via the Rhone so that we can see more of the Camargue.
